Giza, Egypt - Mena House Oberoi

5/15/2012 The Mena House was an extraordinary resort in Giza, with a view of the pyramids.  The property was a hunting lodge originally, and a bit fancier than my grandfather's Pennsylvania hunting lodge.  More on the Mena House...click here.  We had a dinner and lunch here, and stayed here for the night.  The staff was very friendly and accommodating, the wide variety of food was very good, and the property was impeccable.

I would stay here on a tour to Cairo.  Our group was mostly in the new section. I understand that the old section has been refurbished and is wonderful.

Playing with the camera to present the feel of standing in the beautiful resort and looking at the pyramids.  (I haven't been up close yet!!  Only gazing from a distance.)

Elegant interior.

Hmmm.  IS this a suggestion box?  An ashtray? Pretty fancy.

This is the view across the gardens.
The trees were filled with red blossoms.

One more view of the pyramid.

The meals were served buffet style as that is the fastest way to let people choose what they want to eat when looking at it is the only way to make a decision.  All very good.

Salads and hot dishes.
 Cold sliced meats and cheeses.

More hot dishes to try.

And desserts! Very top notch selections.

I felt like royalty sitting in the dining hall.

And if you need to find the Ladies Room, just follow this sign.

Beautiful resort and impeccable service.  Round of applause for the Mena House.
